In Photoshop Elements 9 Layer Masks were introduced. Now you can easily add a Layer Mask to any Layer with a click of the mouse.
For earlier versions of Elements there is a work-around to allow you to use a Layer Mask. It's a little less convenient than one click of the mouse but it works just as well. - View Tutorial »
