Today Adobe announced the official release date of Photoshop CS5. They put up a nice countdown to the release here… Some of the new features in CS5 are promising and we can’t wait to give it a go!
One of the new features is the content-aware filling. From retouching to completely re-imagining an image, here’s an early glimpse of what could happen in the future when you press the delete key.
Howdie stranger!

Unfortunately, the Resynthesizer web site starts with: “I haven’t really been keeping up with API changes in the GIMP, or with emails people send me. If you emailed me and I haven’t replied, I’m sorry. If you want to take over as maintainer of this project, email me. Other emails will probably continue to sit unread in my inbox.”
And if the video is a typical example rather than than carefully-selected results, this is basically what a decade of researching and programming gets you from the promising ideas that Resynthesizer serves as a demo for.

A similar feature has been available in the GIMP for years. Have a look: http://o3.tumblr.com/post/470608946/photoshops-caf-content-aware-fill-unbelievable
