Photoshop Tutorial: A Quick and Simple Way to Make Any Object Transparent

Author:
Step 1
Image to be used for this effect removed from background.

Step 2
To create the behind the subject layer I copied a portion of the background, then hit Ctrl + T and then dragged the layer over to fit. layer is behind subject layer.

Step 3
After you have parts of the background extracted, fill the area you want to clip. Select original subject layer, hit the Ctrl + I to invert, then hit delete or backspace to trim unwanted area's.

Step 4
Using original layer, adjust the opacity
so you can see through it to the layer below.

Step 5
Now we start creating the pen paths and brush
layers by following the selected areas you want to show hilights.

Step 6
For more details you can use a filter called find edges

Step 7
This is the filter result to the original layer.

Step 8
Now you want to invert
that layer.

Step 9
Change the layer mode to screen
to get the hilights showing through.

Step 10
Now adjust the opacity
to get the effect you like.

Step 11
Final result. you can adjust the effect to the way you like it.
