Tutorial goal:


In this tutorial I'll show you how to make a realistic old TV in photoshop. The detailed step by step guide will help you to easily understand how to make it. We're going to start with a blank document.

Step 1

First we'll start by opening a 12 X 8 inch new document and the resolution is 150.



Step 2

Create a new layer and use the Rectangular Marquee tool to draw a rectangle. The rectangle size and color are mentioned below.



Step 3

In this step we'll use filters to add wood effect to the rectangle. Particularly Fibers filter is the best one to create a wood effect.



Step 4

Use Dodge and Burn tools to add highlights and shadows to the wood surface.



Step 5

Use the Rounded Rectangle tool to make the TV screen's outline area. The rectangle's option & size are mentioned below.



Step 6

Then we made a little bit of adjustment in the rectangle using Warp tool.



Step 7

Go to Blending Option just double click the TV screen layer and add Bevel and Emboss effects to it.



Step 8

In this step we'll make the main TV screen. First select TV screen outline layer (black color) and go to Select -> Load Selection to enable the load selection. Now create a new layer and fill the selection with the color mentioned below and transform it to little bit reduce it's size. (see the transform value below).



Step 9

Now go to Filter -> Artistic -> Film Grain to add filter effect to the screen.



Step 10

Now add bevel and shadow effects to the screen using blending option. The below image clearly shows you the blending option details.



Step 11

The following steps explain how to make the TV's control panel and buttons. First we create a new layer and draw a rectangle with the following size (size mentioned below).



Step 12

Add bevel and shadow effects to the control panel using blending option.



Step 13

Now we'll make the TV speaker. First create new layer and follow the below step.



Step 14

This step shows you how to make the speaker cover and how to add blending effects to it. First create a new layer then follow the step. Use the following blending options to add effects to the speaker cover.



Step 15

Now we'll make the TV control panel switches and buttons. Do the following steps.

The following step explain you how to make switch buttons.

This step also explain how to make other buttons.



Step 18

Now make the bright, contrast and volume control buttons. Create a new layer then follow the steps.



Step 19

Make panel cover. Create a new layer then follow the steps.



Step 20

Continue to make panel through the following steps.



Step 21

This is the step to explain you how to make the volume, bright/contrast and other symbols.



Step 22

Add depth to the TV top and bottom.

The TV needs some depth. It looks like a flat screen tv. good job on the face of it!

dude great tutorial...
idk if its just that im stupid but the first pattern over the tv speaker was complicated
i couldnt get it on.
it might just be me though
