Practice tutorial

Step 1

Draw a circle. Drag the ellipse tool diagonally and press ctrl key to get a perfect circle.
Select the circle, press F11 to go to Fountain fill box. Choose #00CCFF and #0F6594 to fill the circle. It should look something like the image below

Step 2

Make a copy of the circle. Reduce its size a bit, fill it with white, remove outline.
Now select transparency tool and make the white circle transparent.

Step 3

Draw another white circle. Place it a little higher. Hold down Ctrl while dragging it, this will constrain the movement.
Add transparency as shown.

Step 4

Now we will make wings. Take an ellipse. Select pick tool (its the first tool in the toolbox, it looks like an arrow). Click on the ellipse now we have entered the rotate and skewing mode.
Move the center of the ellipse to the corner as shown.

Rotate and copy. press Ctrl + r to repeat "rotate and copy step".

Select all three ellipse and weld them.

Smoothen the corner node.

Step 5

Step 1: Fountain fill the wing with #0F6594 and #00CCFF.
Step 2: Make a copy of the wing with reduced size. Fill it with white color.
Step 3: Make the white wing transparent as shown in the image below.

Step 6

Select the blue wing and the white wing. Press Ctrl+g, this will group them. Now mirror the wing.

To mirror a shape: Select the object, hold down Ctrl and drag a selection handle to the opposite side of the object.
After mirroring, place the wing on the right side.

Now select both wings and press Shift + Page Down. This will bring them behind the body of the bird.

Step 7

Now we will draw the eyes....I have explained it in 5 steps.
Step 1: Take circle, Fountain fill with #0D74A4 and #FFFFFF (white).
Step 2: Give it transparency.
Step 3: Make another circle fill it with black.
Step 4: Draw one more circle over the black circle. Fill it with white and add transparency to it.
Step 5: Draw 2 small circle of white color. Again same thing, make them half-transparent.

Step 8

Group the eye. Make a copy of the eye, leaving little distance in between. Select them both, press Ctrl+g to group them.
Place the eyes on the body
To place the eyes in exact center of the body, first select the outer most circle of the body then select the eyes, and press c. This will place them in vertical center.

Step 9

Take polygon tool (Y).
Change the sides of the polygon to 3. Because we need a triangle for the beak.
Make the corner node symmetrical. There is a node in the center of each side. Make it Smooth. Adjust them so that it looks like the image below.

Step 10

Coloring the beak.
Step 1: Rotate the beak vertically. Fountain fill with #FFFF66 and #F0C51A.
Step 2: Make a copy of the beak with reduced size. Fill it with white.
Step 3: Make it transparent as shown. This will give it a 3-D look.
Step 4: Make another copy of the beak with much reduced size.
Step 5: Add transparency. Select all parts of the beak and group them (Ctrl+g)

Step 11

Place the beak in the center of the eyes.

Step 12

I will use the beak as the claws of the bird. make two copies of the beak rotate them vertically. Place one claw behind the body and another claw in front of the body.

Step 13

Using rectangle tool, make a sing board saying "follow me".

Step 14

Now you can create your own twitter using your imagination.

This looks awesome! Love this one and the bird is so sweet; although, i don't know any coral (except for the reefs) but it seems pretty detailed and it'd surely be helpful for all, methinks. Great one here. =)
