karaflazz: ahahahahahahahahaha....... (1 year and 343 days ago)
ziggyx2003: Josh, I am holding you fully responsible for this (1 year and 343 days ago)
jawshoewhah: *evil laugh* Muah hahahahahaha (1 year and 343 days ago)
jawshoewhah: and yes locks, you are absolutely correct. (1 year and 343 days ago)
ziggyx2003: this is gross (1 year and 343 days ago)
locksmagic: You know what, Josh is sick for coming up with this but whoever is responsible for actually making this a contest is far worse in my book! (1 year and 343 days ago)
jawshoewhah: I seriously am surprised they picked this idea. So far, the entries are disgusting. Even my suggestion to photograph hookers was better than this. Doesn't anyone have any cool scars they can show off? I (1 year and 342 days ago)
jawshoewhah: Alright, after viewing the entries, I will definitely say that this was the worse idea for a contest I've ever come up with. I'm waiting for just one picture of some affliction that doesn't gross me out. (1 year and 342 days ago)
jawshoewhah: http://www.pxleyes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2006 (1 year and 342 days ago)
EmiK: Wow, I actually have nothing I can take a picture of, darn it, where is a skin affliction when you need one, lol. (1 year and 342 days ago)
ponti55: Oh good god... That's just... nyahhhhhhh stop uploading to this contest. Please. (1 year and 342 days ago)
kyricom: These are gross pictures!!! EXACTLY what the theme asked for (1 year and 342 days ago)
Drivenslush: Jaws.. don't sweat it.. this will be great practice for people thinking of going into forensics or the medical field, though gross, it's very important to record pictures like this so they can be documented and analyzed.. (and yes the images are yucky, and AMAZING!!) (1 year and 342 days ago)
jawshoewhah: I've said it before in a forum and I'll say it again. Probably less than 10 people on this whole site suggest contests themes and less than 5 do it regularly. It blows my mind that we can all come up with some fantastic entries but hardly any of us can come up with a contest suggestion. Can’t come up with a contest suggestion? FINE! That’s ok, but you could go and comment on the suggestions that members make. It might just be a good idea to go do that in the near future so that the admin will have a better idea which contest we should use and which ones (like this one) are probably not a good idea. But, like the challenges, they get very little feedback and attention. So to avoid this issue in the future, why don’t you all put it on your list of ‘things to do’: COMMENT ON CONTEST SUGGESTIONS! It’s located under the contests menu. It’s that link at the bottom that says, Suggestions. This of course does not apply to people like Lamantine. (1 year and 342 days ago)
jawshoewhah: Thanks for the defense but it was probably not a good suggestion. (1 year and 342 days ago)
Contest Moderator: Guys, if you're too sensitive for this, just don't open the contest... No need for regrets jawshoewhah, your contest suggestions are greatly appreciated. It doesn't always have to be the obvious choices. (1 year and 342 days ago)
kyricom: I don't have any problems with this suggestion. I agree with the moderator that if people are too sqeamish they can just avoid the theme this week. These photos aren't going to jump out from the page on to us. Judge them like you would any other theme. Technique, composition, how well does it meet the theme etc. (1 year and 342 days ago)
ziggyx2003: I agree, i think its gross, so have made a choice to not go there. That is my choice, everyone do what you gotto do. (1 year and 342 days ago)
Barracuda: Yes this contest is gross, but I love the idea jawshoewhah. Not all photography needs be of pretty flowers. The weird and wonderful, make life interesting. I have to look through all my pics now to find the grossest... hmmm (1 year and 342 days ago)
jawshoewhah: I see the mods decided to remove a couple comments. (1 year and 342 days ago)
locksmagic: I'm just poking some fun Josh don't sweat it, it is disgusting but hey I keep coming back to it for some reason! My only real complaint about this contest is that there are just some terrible entries! Ok so you found a good subject, just taking a snapshot of it doesn't make it contest worthy, we may not all be pros but I think we can all tell the difference between a good shot and a bad one, don't just upload something for the sake of having an entry people! (1 year and 342 days ago)
westfall: This contest shows the hypocracy of this site... this is straight from the newly reformatted rules and gudelines under the heading "FOR ALL TYPES OF CONTESTS" subsection 1.2.. "1.2. Extreme Violence, terrorism, gore, pornography, explicit nudity...: if any of these words describe your entry, it's probably not suited for everyone, and should not be uploaded. Your entry should not be offensive to anyone. If you have doubt, you can ask the administration or a moderator first. If we have a contest for adults only, we will have them in a seperate section." (1 year and 342 days ago)
westfall: @ Contest Moderator... You cannot tell someone if they are offended or are too sensitive to just "Not open the contest".. you as a Moderator are required to follow the rules setforth by this site... and by the rules pertaining to entries.. i would assume that a contest that requires GORE that could OFFEND people would even be allowed.. no disrespect to Jaws for submitting the idea as he only submitted the idea. (1 year and 342 days ago)
westfall: *** "edit wouldn't even be allowed" not "would"*** (1 year and 342 days ago)
Contest Moderator: A skin condition is not gore, westfall. (1 year and 342 days ago)
jawshoewhah: Um, I would say one or two of them is. This is truly the ultimate challenge as far as shooting an entry taht doesn't gross us out and still has some artistic appeal. (1 year and 342 days ago)

westfall: we shall see.. but your reply "If you're too sesitive for this, just don't open the contest" was uncalled for and in bad taste. and yes skin conditions could be classified as Gore.. ... Gore:a realistic depiction of serious physical injuries involving blood, flesh, etc... now with that said... if any one person finds something offensive then it is considered offensive material.... (1 year and 342 days ago)
jawshoewhah: Good point Westfall, so let’s try to take this contest in a new direction. For starters, people, I think scars (fully healed) could hold some merit as far as artistic appeal is possible. So let’s focus on that as the primary focus and avoid the gore. I think scarification would be a good direction as far as what to look for in entries. Branding is also a form of skin art, like tattoos and piercings, which can be done tastefully and at the same time, not gross us all out. Here is an excellent example of what would be considered artistic skin affliction: http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FA4/GJT0/FI3XV0F2/FA4GJT0FI3XV0F2.MEDIUM.jpg Self afflicted but still a skin affliction. This one also: http://www.ishiboo.com/~danny/Mods/branding/r/16days-aftertoothbrush10.jpg Still might be considered a little crude to look at but once again the photographer has used an excellent POV to capture the skin affliction. It also might not be such a bad idea to modify the contest guidelines to animals as well, for they are more commonly branded and some branding designs can be rather artistic. So if a mod could update the guidelines to animals are welcome, I think we just might be able to salvage this contest.

(1 year and 342 days ago) westfall: i think that would be a bit better Jaws.. and maybe update "Blisters, boils, bee stings, cuts, bruises, sunburns, warts or burns. Enter your most disgusting and really bizarre looking skin afflictions" to say something along the lines of.. scars, branding, or any other type of healed wound that has been tastefully captured in a photograph.. or something along those lines with emphasis on HEALED or NOT INFECTED... lol.. (1 year and 342 days ago)
kyricom: Ya know, I bought a car once and decided a week or so later that I really didn't like it that much. AMAZINGLY, the dealer wouldn't take it back and give me all my money back.
This contest was suggested ("Enter your most disgusting" "blisters, cuts, boils" etc.), accepted, posted, and now has as many entries as some do when they end. Just because the suggester has buyer's remorse is not a reason to change it. If it grosses you out, don't keep coming here every few hours to check it out, and wait for the "Puppies and lollipops" competition. I can't help but wonder how many who are "grossed out" by a cut or a scab watch movies where people are blown up, or killed, or shot, or maimed, or stabbed, or strangled, or raped, or beaten - or video games where people are beheaded, gunned down, stabbed, beaten, eviscerated. But if they see a scab or a boil they go "OH MY GOD! A BOIL!!!! (screaming, running for the hills)." It would not be fair to the people who have already entered to change the contest now and be judged by a different theme then what they posted under. A suggestion is just that, a SUGGESTION. It does not give the suggestors any ownership over the theme. The choppers had a theme a little while back on anorexia which I found in very poor taste. my solution was - I didn't go look at them. relax, people. (1 year and 341 days ago)

(1 year and 341 days ago) locksmagic: Well it's safe to say that kyricom has an entry on here already that he thinks will do well
(1 year and 341 days ago)
(1 year and 341 days ago) westfall: point taken on Kryicom, but i must argue that if i am forced to follow the rules of the site... then a contest should also be held to the same standards.. (1 year and 341 days ago)
RAZ0R: i agree with krycomi (1 year and 341 days ago)
adeincyprus: I don't have a problem with this contest really, just that it would be nice to see some more artistically arranged shots, difficult in the circumstances I know, but most of these are just 'snaps'...... (1 year and 341 days ago)
jerostone: I saw some of the entries uploaded for this contest, just before I had dinner. Tough luck! (1 year and 341 days ago)
iquraishi: I totally agree with Kyricom.. when we can watch slasher movies.. y not pics of some skin afflictions.. it can happen to anyone.. so nothing wrong in suggesting wierd and strange ideas joshua.. u don't have to worry.. (1 year and 341 days ago)
jawshoewhah: You know what iquraishi, your right. What the Hell. Let it run it's course. (1 year and 341 days ago)
Barracuda: Absolutely, let the contest run its course. I think people are being overly sensitive, the contest does not actually require you inflict these wounds just that you photograph a wound, it goes without saying given this is a photography competition that the picture with the most artistic merit should win not necessarily the grossest. We can't wrap the world in cotton wool people, this contest does not harm anyone and if you don't like the subject then simply don't look. I dread to think what some people do when they get a paper cut! AHHHHH call 911 (1 year and 341 days ago)
westfall: maybe so.. but im just saying.. with the guidelines set forth for this site.. this is unaceptable.. and if the contestants are expected to follow the rules and guidlines then the contests presented should also be expected to fall within the same criteria.. and if this continues i would expect the rules to be updated to exclude the gore factor in contests, letting it be exceptable in all contests not just this one (1 year and 341 days ago)
locksmagic: This is realy sad, there are only 3 entries that are anything other than a bad snap
Are we not supposed to be photographers here people? You need to lok at your entries and ask yourself weather or not you'd be proud to have your shot in your portfolio. (1 year and 339 days ago)

(1 year and 339 days ago)
(1 year and 339 days ago) ziggyx2003: No sad is, we get creative and then get asked if we photoshopped it, that is sad. (1 year and 338 days ago)
adeincyprus: why do you think that is ziggy! (1 year and 338 days ago)
adeincyprus: why do you think that is ziggy! (1 year and 338 days ago)
ziggyx2003: Well i can't think of a single reason that doesn't boil down to " you actually believe I would cheat", wow I truly thought my intergrity was rated higher than that. Ok, I will have to go and seriously think about that. (1 year and 338 days ago)
locksmagic: Yes Ziggy your the only person on here that's ever been accused of photoshopping an entry, you don't seem to have a problem voicing your opinions but heaven forbid some else does? And from what I can tell it was a question not an accusation. (1 year and 337 days ago)
ziggyx2003: Sorry, I was responding to Adeincyprus. Who asked me a question, twice, ten minutes apart. (1 year and 337 days ago)
jadedink: OH HOLY HELL. seriously people? this is how artists work together? you all need to get over yourselves. this is art. sorry if you can't handle criticism. hell, half my stuff is questioned and i still go on about my way. Ziggy, i'm sorry ade gave you issues. but..really, if your shot is cool enough to get attention and wonder how you did it, i guess there is some merit to your standings here on pxl. locks is asked constantly how he did something. i would consider it almost a compliment coming from some of the members.
at least then i know my stuff gathered interest. (1 year and 337 days ago)
at least then i know my stuff gathered interest. (1 year and 337 days ago) Kare: Does this now mean that you can post a tatoo ? (1 year and 337 days ago)
Pat: I cant bring myself to even look at this one sorry for all the non votes (1 year and 337 days ago)
jawshoewhah: Well this was quite the controversial contest theme.
I'm glad some of you decided to truly be artistic in your entries and not make me loose my lunch.
