For the ladybugs I used a simple round brush at different opacity levels. Then I used the blur tool to smooth out some of the lines.

The middle of the leaf wasn't done because I already knew that the ladybugs were going to sit there. I used a brush that I made that looks like a few blades of grass to add the texture to the leaf.
