Some changes were made along the way, but I will try to describe what I did. The first step was to lasso an area of the green design and rotate it ready to chop.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 1

step 2 of 15

Chopping is done and one leaf is ready to duplicate and form arms.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 2

step 3 of 15

Dancer is partially completed and legs are started. I used a red background here, but will later change to a gradient background.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 3

step 4 of 15

Legs are added under skirt which was created by flipping the design used for the dancer's upper body.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 4

step 5 of 15

Here I decided to go back to a white background and have started a tree from fabric pattern using the eraser tool. After one half is formed, it will be duplicated and flipped horizontally.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 5

step 6 of 15

Tree halves are merged together, then trees are duplicated. Dancers are also duplicated. I've gone to a longer canvas, but will widen it up later to better accomodate the walkway I plan to do.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 6

step 7 of 15

A gradient background is added here to give an idea of sky with blue at top, and then green and yellow hues the rest of the way down.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 7

step 8 of 15

A new section is lassoed to start a path through the canvas.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 8

step 9 of 15

This is where I added to the sides of the canvas. The path is formed by adding small sections on at a time from the original lassoed piece. Some cloning is done to match pieces up. Finished walk is embossed slightly and color changed w hue/saturation tool.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 9

step 10 of 15

Here one of the flowers is being formed from another piece lassoed from source. Petals must be rotated, duplicated, and some even distorted to complete the shape.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 10

step 11 of 15

Flower is finished off by adding a stem and joining the petals together then adding a center with brush tool.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 11

step 12 of 15

Flowers are placed around trees, changing size for perspective using the scale tool. Colors are varied using hue/saturation and color tools.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 12

step 13 of 15

Another section of source is used to create another flower type. Eraser tool and brush tools are used, then scaling and color changes are made.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 13

step 14 of 15

3 other small sections are lassoed here to become a bird.

Creation of Rite of Spring: Step 14

step 15 of 15

Shadows were added after placing flowers and birds in balanced little groups. A lot of attention is made to scaling flowers, trees, and dancers.
