Added background with diamond gradient.

First I positioned the pic.

To get things easier... I added a new layer and drew over the pic, deleting after finished the sketch.

New layer: painted the base color and added noise.

Duplicated the layer and smudged. It's not so visible because the light color...

New layer: with a small brush I painted the colored part of fur and smudged.

New layer: more details of fur and mouth.

New layer: I drew the nose, added noise, and with burn tool, drew the details.

New layer: I colored the ears and smudged.

New layer: I drew the eyes (and sincerely, I loved the result...)

I hid the sketch layer; on a new one I drew the "moustache". After finished, I changed the background color.
