i started out by making a 3d shape in illustrator...here are my bevel settings...

and here's the shape, which i exported for use in photoshop...

i opened photoshop and placed my shape on a black layer..

i masked out a piece of one of my old bryce images (it's in my stock), a basic volume terrain, and used it for the sides of my cube....

bottom piece, stretched and distorted to fit...

i then did the same thing for the top and bottom of the cube using another old bryce work (also in my stock), just an abstract piece...

then i masked out this chain from cgtextures.com, and placed over cube...

i saved my cube with the sides, because i accidentally did it in cmyk color, then opened up a new rgb document, and placed a background, another abstract piece i did on bryce (in my stock).....

placed cube image on top, and blended on difference...
