| Description | I took this hike with a visiting friend of mine in June 2009. She had just run in the Mayor's Cup race and still had energy and wanted to go hiking. We headed up Arctic Valley, right outside Anchorage, to the trail head for Rendezvous Peak and Mt. Gordon Lyon. The weather was nasty - big rain clouds were everywhere. We made good time to the saddle and turned left toward Gordon Lyon. The rain held off but the winds really picked up - to the point we could barely stand up. My friend weighs probably less than 100 pounds and I was worried she was going to blow away. I only took a few photos this time since it was too windy to hold the camera steady. It is a great hike - about 2 miles in and about a 1,300 foot climb - not bad at all and great views. |
