St Mary's church - medieval altar stone
St Mary's church - medieval altar stone
Stone mensa resting on 17th century table. Located beside the River Wissey, St Mary's church has a massive buttressed 15th century tower and aisles that were built to each side of it; the south porch is two storeys high. Extensive repairs were carried out during the 19th century; a medieval stone mensa (seen here) has survived and still functions as an altar table. St Mary's church is no longer used for worship and presently in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church is kept locked but a key is available.
