Granny's magic mug - created by CMYK46

Cold water in, hot coffee out!

Granny's husband was a magician. When he passed away she had some of his ashes mixed into a batch of clay and shaped into a mug with his likeness. His lasting love for her and his magical powers provide her morning coffee.
(Inspired by a true story. My friend Al the glassblower had some of his dad's ashes mixed into a batch of hot glass and fashioned objects for family members as mementos). (5 years and 2217 days ago)

Funny story. I kinda miss a shadow for the pouring water out of the bottle. A real challenge, I'd say! Good luck!

author says:

Thanks, Waz. There is a shadow for the water...maybe it should be darker?

I think the path here of coffee is not the actual it should be.

author says:

It's exactly the same as the coffee being poured in the source pic. Maybe you could describe how it might be different?

paudiyal says:

Even I think so. Trajectory of coffee flow should have been a bit higher maybe. Or the mug should be closer to the edge for current angle. Its like brain says from this angle coffee should go through the table but it doesn't look so.

arifulbk says:

Your path through the tunnel is a little bit higher than actual I think.I mean coffee should flow through the middle part.

Great Granny's New Contraption - created by pearlie

Great Grannys New Contraption

I remember the day well, we were all called to Granny and Grampa's house for the delivery. What a fine day it was, too, when the shiny brass-and-pipes-and-gauges and such was first used after the grand spring party. All Granny had to do was crank 'er up a few times, and it started, sputterin' and steamin', making mounds of suds, and it cleaned all the dishes to a sparkling clean. What a fabulous new contraption! Thanks, Granpa, now Granny's the envy of the neighborhood.

Parts is parts as they say, used shiny brass parts from several vintage items, a couple of brushes and basic ps tools.

The victorian house is a personal photo, this is a renovated house in Gainesville, FL where I had the good fortune to work as a graphic artist in the early 80s for an ad agency whose office was moved there. (original photos are in sbs.) (5 years and 3274 days ago)

Except for some typography and spacing issues, this is really darling and fun! The copy (the actual wording of it) is great. Love the old ad look! Oh, and love the description too.

Like the thought, only thing bothering me is that the interior is straight (the back of the dishwasher). Can you wrap it so it follows the curves of the whole item. Otherwise - great!!! Liking the typing!

author says:

thanks for all the comments. ah, very good boo-boo catch, sunzet! thank you, I have re-tooled the dishrack, also reworked some copy, thanks annabat.

Really? So why is she on a water slide, and why is she a pinhead?

author says:

To answer your questions cmyk....... when one is in rehab, administrators are to Help patients stay busy to keep their addictions off the mind, so having fun is one.You had a good point on the pinhead part, I enlarged the head.......Thanks...........And NO, I've not been in rehab.

Update: Thanks for the compliments and the tips on the background, I made some alterations.

avatar gotmeamuse

great!

avatar rjapzdesign

LOL..This is very funny, great work

avatar annabat
annabat [banned] says:

The expression is amusing, the water slide as well, only it would be better suited if everything was tied together better. With the solid coloring to the source, it starts to look almost cartoonish. Maybe try integrating the background w/ very subtle filters like grain or noise to tie together the nuances of the photo background and the changes to the source.
