Not exactly a family picture, boy should have been made smaller, to fit size ratio of picture

avatar robvdn
robvdn says:

I like what you've done with this, some great find of sources (specially the car!)

Maybe you can have a look again at the boy? It stands out IMHO, to big and the colors do not match, the 'photo filter' and/or the 'match color' function will probably fix that color problem.
Something I would do is to crop the right area out (up until the bottle), IMHO improves the composition. Some minor fast changes which improve your entry IMHO.

But like I said: I like it

author says:

Hey thanks spellweaver and robvdn..
I'll fix those things as soon as possible..
yes tiny changes can improve a lot!.. well said!
thanks for your comments.

Made an update, did some changes..thanks guys for the advice

Stone Sentinel - created by blur

Stone Sentinel
Favs: 5SBS: 3Hi-resRank: 2/15Score: 71.5% (37)29275 views

This piece of art is my dedication to the nature itself because I love mountains and mystical creatures.

Techniques I’ve been used is a matte painting inside Adobe Photoshop and digital painting with PaintTool SAI. Lots of chops from the source image as well as textures to cover the Stone Sentinel’s body, dirt and manipulate the surroundings; all with my graphic tablets.

No external images required in the process.

Brush in Photoshop is required to clip masks the source image and Brush with paper texture in SAI is applied to summon the one and only Stone Sentinel with its dirt around the environment and the ‘Stone Sentinel Slayer’.

Hope you like my creation; because I had a lot of fun to complete this artworks.

Thanks for viewing (also to my WIP field) and have a great time! (5 years and 2571 days ago)

love everything in this image! Great work!

author says:

Thanks for nice comments, friends. It means a lot to me and I'll keep them coming for upcoming contest (if there's no problems to my current job) as well. Lots of great entries here, just wanna slip with my fantasy creatures imagination though. = )

Still have many details lost to my final result, still need a lot of improvements to the painting and compositing. Hope everyone like it. Have a great time!

Instant FAV!! perfect!..
amazing SBS author..
my respects to you!!
Good Luck!

avatar Kid
Kid says:

IMO too much filter is used on the background and a lot of the detail disappeared. REALLY nice composition overall though and good use of source!

author says:

Thanks for the nice comments and FAV, friends. Really means a lot to me.

@Kid; you're mistaken. It's not filters I've been used for the background. It's a digital painting method with SAI Brush that has a textured like a paper (watercolor rough paper) and it's obviously to distract viewer's eyes into the main composition; the Golem and the Fat Boy. = )

Thanks once again and hope I'll improve my final artwork for the next time. Also have a great-great time, fellow artist.

Ancient Awakens - created by blur

Ancient Awakens
Favs: 2SBS: 5Hi-resRank: 3/15Score: 68.1% (29)28018 views

This piece of art is my dedication to the nature itself because I love forest and mystical creatures.

Techniques I’ve been used is a matte painting inside Adobe Photoshop. Lots of chops from the source image as well as textures to cover the Ancient Protector’s body. External images are my own (snapshots of my buddy) to pose the human characters. Brushing and airbrushing are required to grow vines and summon the Ancient Protector with the rules of third and golden mean composition (I almost forgot to apply those rules since I’m working as a character and creature artist rather than environment or cinematic), after that; I made touch ups in Adobe After Effects as a post-production stage and finally end up in Adobe Lightroom to enhance details and sharpens the final artwork.

Hope you like my creation; I had a lot of fun to complete this artworks. Thanks for viewing and have a great time!

Oh yeah... Will that wandering boy find this formidable creature as a friend or foe?

avatar Kid
Kid says:

Would be better if you made monster a little brighter so it pops out a little more. Looks like a scene from a movie too

author says:

Thanks for the comments, Keiley22 and Kid. Appreciated so much!

Kid, if I made the monster a little brighter, yes it can pops up but in my humbly opinion; I tried so hard to make it merged into the environment so it doesn't look so fake. Because it's a painting inside a photo real. = )

But once again, thanks for your considerations to look after my creation and I suggest to check the WIP section too. I tried to explain everything there. Have a great time all.

Congrats!!
