you are correct about the pixie. you could have drawn on her as a new layer to sharpen her.
I tried drawing on the pixie. Especially her eyes. Wasn't working the way I'd like.

Great start to the contest. Well done.
in high res the girl is masked out very poorly, white lines arround the hand and her hair is cut out bad aswell. also shes very blurry compared to the balloon image. In small version you barely notice this and it looks good. The idea is great aswell and its a great first entry!
This reminds me of the guy in California that fastened the helium balloons onto a lawn chair & shot up so high & fast that he ended up near LAX airspace. Aside from the high res issues, I like this entry. I made me smile.

Just a random idea I came up with. Extracted bench with vector mask using pen tool. The "brick island" effect created with bevel and emboss layer style and layer mask. Add stars with a paintbrush and painted in light streams on separate layer and set to soft light. Edited to credit NefaroStock (at deviantArt), I included the link to here and their page. Funny image, the tails are cute . Some nitpick: you made the balloons seethrough which makes a nice effect. But in that case I also expect to see (for example) the backpaws from the orange balloon.giraffe through the front ones . Idem for the blue one. In case you change it, be aware that with 2 layers of balloons the final background might be barely visible. Good luck!

I love this one! The only thing is, the limbs of balloon animals are created by twisting the balloon, not simply "attached" pieces together.
