I think going less on the textures in the face and shirt will enhance your entry a lot.
I kind of like both of them now, can't decide (but I put your suggestion up in the contest piece and the original with the comparison in the sbs)

That's a fun idea. I love the poor little dog and the way the picture is crooked. I wonder if the edges of the seawater should have some foamy bubbles and be less blurry?

thank for your advice and i'll work on it 
I like the idea, it's a good out of bounds. Splashes are done very good, but i think the room could be improved a lot. Obviously, it's just my opinion
