Interesting idea. The black background helps emphasize the dramatic lighting on the head, and works well.

Maybe... if you had cleaned the right side of the head more, your image would have been better, when you use a black background, some of the details show up more, but the places you missed to clean will show up more too. Nice image btw. Gl.
