Lovely! Very imaginative! The cracks don't seem too realistic, but other than that it's excellent!
I did a cracked egg piece once and used a broken auto windshield as the texture to create the cracks in the egg. I got lots of compliments on it, maybe that would work to help you here.

the gallery next to mine sell very similar work.. only in three D... (super duper expensive) hehehehe.. great IDEA... I love being able to see through the second one.. real locks the image together
