I'm not sure what the moon has to do with Christmas. Technically the moon is spheroid, so just because much of it may be in shadow, that does not mean those non-visible portions do not physically exist. Nevertheless, the crescent-moon logo of DreamWorks SKG, for example, allows a boy to fish while sitting on what should really be just the shadow edge. That same conceit could work here if the visible portion of the moon were more crescenty and the Santa hat in particular better fit that contour, which probably means leaning left rather than right.
