looks like a little lens flare has crept in..........

I don't think it's flare as the sun appears to be nearly behind the photographer, it appears more like a hotspot created when a lens "disagrees" with an IR filter...happens

i'm not really sure is it a flare or hotspot. Only in this church photo that orb appeared, and its hardly seen on my camera display. i only notice it appearance when im editing it. thank you.

there are 3 orbs that I can see.......a green one that is obvious, one light blue lower left of the green one, and another lighter colored one high right of the green one.....they are in a line, which does indicate lens flare..

@ Ade...yes...i stand corrected...I see them now, appologies...

actually both of you are right, after i analysed other of my photos i found out that 2 orbs on the left are actually the lens flare and the other one is the hot spot (mostly appeared on my ir photo)

Beautiful scene for an infrared photo, turned out excellent!! They do say that infrareds have more of a chance of catching lens flare. You did well. Best of luck to you!!

Thanks - the weather was not really agreeing with me and the wind was blowing like all heck...caused the ripples on the water to give that soft look like a waterfall or ocean does on long exposure and the tips of the trees blurred because the branches wouldn't hold still...forgot how hard this was until now.

this does not look anything like the type of infrared image I was expecting to see here......

I'm not too certain is an actual IR either...looks nothing like I've seen anywhere else

just did some quick research on wikipedia and IR filters are tuned to let in light frequencies of 720 + nanometers, orange is 600nm and would therefore be blocked by an IR filter...IMO, this photo is not possible with an IR filter attached...I would be interested to know how this one was done

Before i've done this photo, i did 4 days of research on how in the world to create an ir picture. This picture was taken with R720 52mm ir filter (bought from ebay) and in 30sec exposure. Sound easy yeh.? Honestly its not easy at all...that given tutorial only for a quick guide and it does not tells you everything. Now the 2nd pain in my arse, how to process this photo...it was really toughed to play with the mixer channel, temp, hue etc to get a good color balance and no matter how hard you try you can't get a sharp photo in ir filter..continued

Thank you author for the explination...now I see where the orange came from...channel mixer! I know how hard it is to get IR in focus...Have done many with film...the different wavelenght of light causes the focus to be off if you don't have IR markings on the lens itself...good work...

EDIT: btw...different lenses all handle IR filters differently as far a focus and detail are concerned...many have UV and IR resistant coatings to make the visible light "POP" and makes it a real bugger if trying IR...

so this is my very first ir filter photo, and its not my best yet (because of the weather and still lack of knowledge). If you guys have any questions i'm happy to answer. Thank you for all comments.

Yes, i certainly agree with you james, it makes alot of different with uv filter too..and still trying to figure out how is the best way to process an ir image. Saw alot of tuto for this, and it has no limit in editing..and now i realized its all about artistic in photography.

did you set the camera to shoot monochrome or regular color? I get much better processing results when i set the camera to monochrome

i set my own custom white balance, pretty much to keep the RGB captured.

This is nice, the noise is typical in these digital infrared photos. It is one of the drawbacks of the long exposure time. What tint did this one have before the adjustments, mine always turn out deep magenta before processing. Good luck.

Thank you and yes...it was originally a magenta as would be expected. I always shoot in RAW and after experimenting for a day or two with PS trying to adjust hue ect...I simply went back to the RAW converter and used CWB to get this result instantly..."DUH Moment!"

neat coloration and good focus here, that is one of the hard parts, especially when you can't see what you're doing...it's almost like being a blind photographer!
