Kowhai are small, woody legume trees in the genus Sophora native to New Zealand. Kowhai trees grow throughout the country and are a common feature in New Zealand gardens.
The name kowhai comes from the Maori word for yellow—a reference to the colour of the flower.
They usually flower in spring and nearly all my photos of flowering Kowhai are taken in September or October, so I was delighted to find this one on a walk earlier this week.

Might have liked if the bottom of the stamen of those on the right were included. Plus, what country is this for? Love the colors and DOF, though

you where suposed to mention that in your description what country it represents.. " google it" is not a country and how many people do you expect to speak the language of the MÄori?

That's an unusual flower, and a nice shot of it
Strange looking flower looks almost like some kind of pepper. Interesting... nice shot!
good colors, good contrast. Must improove the composition(more crope). But still is a good photo. I like flowers and i also send 3 photos to the www.bestflowerphoto.com competition 2012. Good luck to me !
