This was made using Photoshop. It consist's of rectangular marquee tool shapes filled with black and text. I generated work paths for the dial face and the hands. The different time indications of the hands were saved respectively. These work paths were exported into the illustrator file format ai for import into 3D Studio Max.

The ai files for the clock dial were imported into Max. These shapes were converted into splines and then poly's. The faces were extruded.

The gear ring consist's of a circle spline and a 78 point star shape spline. The vertices of the star were chamfered to give the shape of the gear. Connected the circle and the star splines converted to editable poly and extruded the face.

Several planes were created. To these planes I applied the picture of the Nebula as a texture. These planes were oriented in different perspectives in order to reflect in the mirror texture that was given to the circle splines modified to become the faces of the clocks. For the environment map I used a chopped version of the Milky Way picture.
