Cropped out the ring and cut it in half to make a chain link.

Duplicated chain link layers and made a chain link circle.

After removing section to leave the illusion that they were linked now, I merged the chain link layers.

I duplicated the chain circle layer and changed the hue every time, also adjusting brightness to five a sense of distance.
step 5 of 5
Repeated the process with several colors. Duplicated the chains layer and made a background after removing all the contrast, brightness. Gave it a shadow that would spread over most of it.
