set the source image as background and add a new layer...fill black color in thenew layer and change the layer mode to over lay with opacity 100%

inserted my previous own fotoshop works to the step 1 out come ...all my previous fotoshop works are made without using any external source image...
step 3 of 3
merge and blend the pics added in step 2 using various layer modes and opacity levels and touch the outcome with paint brush and blend it to give the cave painting effect
