I hope I don't insult legitimate people, but if I'm not familiar with them from the site, I figure I can always add them later. I'm not a huge fan of social networking to begin with (which we could discuss the philosophical advantages and disadvantages some other time - but there are WAY more disadvantages), and I don't view this site as a primary mode of one. I do (believe it or not) have friends on my list here. But they are folks I've interacted with and "know" (as much as you can on the internet)... and I haven't had a single problem.

Well, up to now, there was no problem whatsoever in adding active members as friends, much as it amounts to very little, if anything at all since, if you really need to get in touch with somebody, the PM system is more than enough.
Other than that, social networking, generally speaking, sucks, as it creates to people the illusion that they get in touch with other people, more often than not causing problems, and, occasionally, tragedies. It is up to the parents to explain to their kids the huge, the abysmal difference between bloody social networking and socializing, e.g. meeting other people in the flesh.

Ha! That I do, Ichappell. Comes with age, darn it. Growing older, not quite sure whether I get any wiser, or if I simply rub shoulders with senility, heh heh!

I've certainly never denied being a "crusty old fart," and I seem to be getting crustier, older, and fartier by the day. But, something interesting just happened along the lines of this theme. I just got a post on my profile, and all it said was "add me please." It was from a user with the exact same user name as someone who is succesful and well respected on this site (who is already in my friend's list anyway), but was one letter different.

Of course this person has zero entries, votes etc. Needless to say, I didn't add him.

Here's one I've just received on my profile from someone with NO entries, nothing, very little activity, calls themselves dressvintage - (been roamin around here for 16 days as of this writing):

Canada GeeseCanada Goose Chilliwack JacketCanada Goose Sale CanadaCanada GeeseCanada Goose Jacket Chilliwack
Canada Goose Down Parkas
Canadian Jackets
Canada Goose Jackets Women
Canada Goose
Canada Goose Buy

What in the world is this? an attempt at SEO? Meta Tags? It's not obscene or suggestive or anything, but still, I don't need it! I've left it there only for the time being, glad I spotted this thread to report the scumbag spammer. GO AWAY, DRESSVINTAGE. [-X
