What happens if a voter names the authors name in a running contest? The entry loses its anonymousy while the author is at no fault at all.. removing the entry would not be fair to the author.. leaving it in isnt fair for the contest.. either way one party is going to be favoured in the decision.

Maybe its a bit far sought but maybe mr monty can write a little program so the authors name can not be used in the authors comments on there images... sort of like a banned word list on ones entry that only goes for the authors name?

hope i explained it well.. this way it cant be done even by acident.. upon use of the authors name on the comment of the entry a popup could come up with a lil warning and explanation..

Yes I have Rob, by mistake I put it in questions and not in suggestions, Im sorry for the double post. I meant no harm. But now you are here, got any input on the topic? would it help the mods if such little mistakes are not possible anymore?

If you want my opinion: I feel it is unnecessary, this happens maybe once every 3 months with new members. Longtime members pick these up fast and contact us mods IF we mods miss it.

Furthermore I feel one should vote on the entry without looking at favs and comments.

I agree with that. Name mentioning or more so hints as to Authors do come up in comments at times. I see these when browsing through entries before voting. I also think that an Author in a given contest should not be able to comment on other entries in said contest. I see negative comments towards others in direct competition and this to me can manipulate the outcome. That being said because the popular vote.

Ofcourse I want your opinon :) its just as valuable as everyone elses, id say its even more valuable because you know what goes behind the curtains. Since you are a mod you could answer perfectly wheter it be helpfull or not :).

I myself hesitate contacting a mod, because we allready have the red flag for such things. I rather use that then having to contact the mods myself.. since we dont know which mods are active at the moment and which are not.. (everyone needs a break and anyone can get sick at some point and we all have our own things going as well right?) and arent they bussy enough allready? The mods do so much allready... ofcourse they can remove it as soon as it gets noticed and they will be removed as soon as they notice it.. the thing is WHEN is it being noticed?

With a word blocker that blocks the authors name in comments it doesnt even needs to be noticed by anyone. And it can not even happen.

I aggree with you there, one should vote based on his own opinion, yet I have to admitt.. i found myself looking at an entry making up my mind to vote then I read some comments and they actualy made me see more then I had before, in favor of the entry. There is something to say for that too.. Sometimes our eyes miss seeing soemthing for whatever reason... if your crossing a road and you didnt see a car comming then you dont mind someone elses input either if they warn you.. "carefull rob theres a car comming!" I would say the input actualy helped you making an unfortunate mistake. Alez voting on artwork isnt as life treathening as crossing a road can be thank goodness :) but it does influence your votepower and the authors endresult in the contest. One reason why we have to show our sources to show what we actualy did ourselfs and what was obtained from the sources.

If you or anyone else can't just vote on the merits of an entry without being swayed by the comments that other members make on that entry, you have no business voting in the first place.

I like to vote higher when I see "fodder" remarks usually, especially when they are made by certain habitual offenders. :o :))
