annabat, thak you so much!!
<does like Mr Burns with the hands and the grin> Eeexcellent! now I know whom to harass *cough* *cough* look up to with admiration when it comes to help with Illustrator Yep, I do know the theory behind the "marketing" - the reason I wanted to actually do smth myself in AI instead of making sketches on a piece of paper with crayons for little kiddies But I am not giving up! What makes me angry only makes me stronger lol |

Exactly, logos must be in vector, even if they are only to web. Imagine situation, when you make great logo for web in PS. Few days later your client says that he need this logo also to be print on billbord to advertise his website. Then you must do this from begining... Illustrator is a very powerfull tool, maybe not so easy at start, but at the end you discover that some things are much easier to do in Ai
Also when I look at your logos, they are where easy to do in Ai, your last version shouldn't take more then a half hour to complete ![]() |

i absolutelly agree with illustrator gang!
this is one powerful prog and there are even some clever tricks to retouch pictures in chops together both in photoshop and illustrator. ![]() Cheers To The Beautiful Times!

anyone have suggestions for appropriate sizing if you're starting a logo from scratch? keeping in mind the things annabat suggested. i know it probably "depends" on the media it will be going to, but is there kind of a safe starting point?

keep in mind the specifics of the product you need a logo for.. (read product is item/ company/service/ whatever) keep in mind your public.. are they a certain kind of ppl? young? old?for example for a toystore you might want to use bright and happy colors.. for a company that sells gravestones you may want to tune a bit down on the happyness lvl XD what are you going to be using the logo for... a tv commerical? in the local sportclubmagazine as a sponsor? namecards? on the shopwindow? all these things are important.. if you want a logo thats gonna be printed on the product you usualy dont look for somethign too complex.. it has to be simple.. catchy, somethign ppl can remember easely... and recognise right away as being for that product. when you haev an idea then create several versions.. play with the colors and try get some help, advice and maybe opinion from ppl that you think are worth while to listen to... |

I like the second one, too. It's cleaner.
