If you look on the "Awards" page of your profile...to become a "PXL GOLD" member, one of the awards is "Earned $1,000"?

With the removal of $$$ contests, and short of writing several (dozen) tutorials, is this award even achievable any longer? Commenting 100,000 words...fine...if I have the time to say "nice", "good work", "cute" or anything several hundred times a month, that is actually do-able...but, with out the possibility to earn money by winning, I think this is pretty much a wash... :-?

Thoughts?

Ok...things that matter then... gaining $$$ rather than useless TP's?!? I think that matters IMHO :-?

I know no one will ever get rich with a few bucks here and there, but, it's at least something tangible and useful.

I have to agree with James, if you'd like to achieve an award it shouldn't be made nearly impossible by not having cash prizes anymore. The same is true of the contest level awards, we just had a level ten last week and another this week but the last higher level contest was in February. I'd like to see more higher level contests if only for the tougher competition but I can understand with fewer entries overall contests should be more accessible. A higher level once or twice a month would be good.
I never care about the prize for a contest but many do, premium prizes were a great draw for entries and had a cash credit value as well, I'd like to see those again. If we have an award for money then it should be possible to earn it with contests or change the award at least to a lower dollar amount or remove it entirely.
Yeah Bob, not everyone finds everything important but we should allow others to enjoy the awards if they like, doesn't hurt anyone and many like to achieve the goals set there even if it doesn't affect your position. I don't think rep points mean anything either but I don't object to those who like them.

I agree with the goal of reaching $ 1,000.00. It was not impossible before when we had some money rewards for the three best entries in the weekly contests, Or, for those who spend a lot of time thinking how to get a written tutorial approved. I have been lucky to be able to have gotten some money for participating in the contests and also writting several tutorials. I have $ 731.50 dollars won so far, there are other members with a good amount of money won too. :d

But now, taking the money out from contests, and making it so difficult to get a tutorial approved, it will be hard to reach the $ 1,000.00. It is encouraging winning some money and to be able to buy whatever we want. For me, it is good to have some money from contests or writtting tutorials, as I can buy a pair of tennis shoes that I can wear out in my daily walking. ;)

Here is the question now. I have tried to get my $ 40.00 that I have in my Dollars In Account, and I have not gotten an answer from MrMonty yet. I have sent three E-mail to him, and also posted a thread here in the forum for him to see it, and I have not got a reply from him yet. I wonder what is going on, or some body can give me an idea of what to do next.....! :-S

When I first joined pxleyes I swore any of my winnings would never be cashed in. A couple of years in and a couple of wacom pens destroyed by my daughter, I was stuck without the tools I needed to post acceptable entries in my eyes. I went a while without posting anything new and then decided to cash in my winnings to replace my broken tools. I could care less if there were prizes for contests, I just love the competition and environment. It allows me to hold myself to higher standards and increase my talents in the things I love to do. After all I could spend several hours on an entry to come to the conclusion ("It's not good enough"), so I will scratch it and not post it. I just hope there isn't something wrong with Mr. M, the site, or any money issues the site might have. I'm starting to worry that our entries and participation are starting to hurt the amount of traffic brought to the site, which means less ad clicks and less money for the site. If this is the reasoning behind the loss of prize awards and the elimination of drawing contests, it's a very sad day indeed. I would proudly give up drawing contests and prize awards if it means the site won't shut down. I couldn't imagine how much money it costs to keep this site and all of the galleries up and running. I know it's been said before, but thank you Mr. M for creating this site and giving us all a place to call home.
