Hi buddy, do the research. I just got a toshiba last fall that is doing great.
Whatever brand, look at the guts of it. Processor and virtual memory, graphics card. 8 gig of ram
I run 6g ram and got room for more.
There are going to be some great deals out there as sales have declined.
When i bought this one I researched heavy and got the most bang for the buck.
I use this one for work and work is always away from the house.
the most expensive is not necessarily the best for us.
Let me know and I can help you search.

Craig

I've done a lot of traveling and have owned Gateway laptops for many years. They are very durable and always had great service.

I don't know of anyone in the graphic design industry who doesn't use a MAC.

Macs are great, but not everyone can afford one.

For a Windows laptop I'd look at Asus or Lenovo. Dells are so-so. Be prepared to spend at least 1K for a decent unit. Avoid Acer, HP, and Toshiba.

Well you got some response here I see.
Macs are very good if you can afford them.
We used both mac and pc in college but again i say the name is not what counts as whats under the hood.
Saying to watch out for this and that name brand is not entirely true as many "name brands "
have the same guts.
Then you have all that 3rd party software installed in them too. Those can be removed.Unless you got a ton of money please research, it's the best advice I can give you and you won't be dissapointed

the acer looks good but the upgrade options lack if you plan on keeping it for more then 4 years.
This lappy will run Graphics fine. Extra batteries are a must if you do much remote operation. About 2 hours of battery life if you are working it hard.
If that Vio has a better chip set and gpu I would opt for it.
Good luck in your hunt. I never thought i would need a quad core with 8 gig of ram either.
Who knows what a few more years may bring.
One other thing to note is computer sales have declined and look for some better prices in the next few months.

Good luck
