Yeah, uhhhm speaking of........................................I get a very creative entry pulled because I put a pair of sunglasses in front of my lens, trying to be creative and get a great shot. It was "manipulated color" but the funny thing is.....if you set your white balance to "tungsten" or "flourescent" you'd get a "manipulated color" also!!! Every color can be manipulated. I didn't do it in photoshop so what the hell is the problem. This is why I left before. Jeez of rucking peetz!!! Heading on out the door right now too!!!

Sure seems like holding sunglasses in front of the lens would be acceptable. We can change color etc. as long as it affects the entire image - UNLESS - the theme specifically says you can't. For example, if it was in this week's "Monochromatic" theme then it probably would be off-theme because it specifically says "take a photo that consists of just one color or different shades and/or tones of one color. Any photo color manipulation is off-theme and against the rules!" In this case, it seems like using filters (which is essentially what the sunglasses would be too), or setting your camera to tungsten WOULD be off-theme. It seems like the spirit of the theme is to find naturally colored monochromatic items/subjects and take a shot of them.

It's not the end of the world. Save the shot and use it in the future.

Finally, a voice of reason... :YMAPPLAUSE:

K...you don't think that even as a Mod we don't get entries pulled?!? LOL...it happens ALL the time....it's almost like a game we play between ourselves....catch another Mod 'off-topic'....yea, it sucks, but in the end, like Mark said...it's NOT the end of the world...you probably got a warning, in which case you DID NOT lose an entry, like in the old days...you get a chance to re-do it and resubmit! Whats so heart breaking and unfair about that?...just deal, move on and re-shoot...it happens...to us ALL (mods included).

Well, then you moderators better make sure that each and every photo entered in that contest better have white balance set at AUTO AND NOTHING ELSE! PFT, yeah right, that won't happen. I believe the contest description is taken way too far. I would think that it meant that you can't manipulate it in the camera retouch menu or in photoshop....anything else should have been a go. Like I said, color can be manipulated in so many ways. If I am taking a picture of the sunset, is is "color manipulation" if I set my white balance to sunset? hmmmmm shouldn't be since it is a sunset, yet, the color is manipulated and would definitely come out different if I set it at Auto!
I know the mods work hard at modding, but seems there's more work on the creative REAL entries, than the ones that are faked, copied, stolen, out of focus, completely fricken sucky and entries that don't even read the fricken directions!
And I'm sorry, but the whole "game" thing with the mods is wrong!!!! Why would you play a game and try to pull entries from another mod just for fun? I think that falls in a jealousy, superior type of behavior. NOT COOL! You are supposed to build up the ones you love, care about, respect and like....not bring them down by pulling an entry just because it "might" not fall under the rules and uh yeah, I just want a "one over" my fellow mod. PFT!

Get over getting your entry pulled. If you don't like this place then leave, no-one is forcing you to stay. You are like a little kid that takes his bat and ball and goes home just because the rules don't suit him. Kyricom hit the nail on the head and explained why it would have been off theme, and he isn't a mod. Using some sort of filter to alter the colors (and your sunglasses certainly comes under that category) was not permitted. The idea was to photograph the subjects in one color or shades of one color. It clearly stated "Any photo color manipulation is off-theme and against the rules".
And you say other members don't read the Contest Goals.
And it's easy to bash the mods than admit YOU stuffed up. <------------------NO BULLSHIT THERE!

:((

It's not 'one-upping' each other...it's just something that has been discussed in past threads and seriously, why the heck would that get you bent out of shape? It's just an example of saying that not even the Mods are above the contest rules and guidelines...we never know who made the entry before deciding to pull it/ issue a warning or whatever. And we always issue warnings anymore giving members a second chance to 'get it right' and always with an explanation of WHY it does not fit the guidelines of the contest as we interpret them. Are we perfect? No...nobody is, and when we DO make a mistake, we CORRECT it after we confer with each other.

Quit your crying and get over it already...if you shot a sunset and had the camera set on "sunset" or AWB, it's not color manipulation, period...using a filter (of any kind) IS...period, end of story...the contest ideal was to take a shot of a monochromatic scene (all objects the same color to begin with) which you DID NOT!!! What is so hard to understand here? :?

I was not the Mod of that contest, and the Mod of the contest asked the opinion of several others BEFORE pulling your entry...simply put, it was off-topic, sorry to be blunt, but, this is getting silly now.
