Face it: The number of members who contribute to the forum is miniscule, and there's no way to make people participate in it. Nobody knows if the percentage of members participating in the forum reflects the membership at large. It probably doesn't. I'm beating a dead horse here, but few members make meaningful comments on entries, and few participate in the forum. So the feedback we get here about revising the TP system probably doesn't mean much.

I like the idea of giving TP based on score, but I don't think we should also reward *some* points to the actual top 7... That kinda defeats the purpose of the whole idea behind it.
So I've implemented it so that all entries that score 65% or more get rewarded with TP.


EDIT: Making an exponential increase of TP depending on how high the score is. Will post examples soon.

Here's a possible formula:

$tp = ($score / 2) + ( ($score - 65) * 3);

then round up to the first integer.


This would add an increase in talent points for everything higher than 65%, resulting in this division:

Score: < 65% - standard TP: 0 - extra TP = 0 ----> TOTAL TP EARNED: 0
Score: 65% - standard TP: 33 - extra TP = 0 ----> TOTAL TP EARNED: 33
Score: 66% - standard TP: 33 - extra TP = 3 ----> TOTAL TP EARNED: 36

Whoaa, that's not nothing! What happened to earning 5 or 10 (or something similar as high) points?
Apart from that, this way it does *feel* like that entries with higher average of % get more talent points, imo a good way of thinking.

I think this new way will definitely make things interesting. Lots of newbies may have to wait longer for the TP to come. How will this affect us as members and our current points total?

Looking over the scores, you have a good point... Maybe set this bar a little higher for photo? 70% for example...

Is this going to be retroactive? Or commencing now with no changes to current standings?

I like the idea, makes more sense than getting nothing for an entry that scores in the high 60th. We could of course get very clever and start giving minus points for entries below 45%.
We probably don't need to have extra points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc, but it would be nice to display the winners all or at least the 10 top scores in each contest.
