We are going back to the mtns in Oct and I want to have one of these filters for my waterfall shots. I see that some can be as much as $400 or more but I just need something that I can get the water so soft and pretty in bright situations. Please help me figure out which one I need. Around $200 is fine.

We are staying in Ellijay,GA. Get a cabin there at least once a year or every other year. It's so beautiful! There are several waterfalls around but some take some time to hike up to and not so easy on smokers. LOL I have learned so much since my first attempt at the soft water focus so this time I want to be prepared! My husband came to me the other day and said... ok I have to get this out..."How many waterfalls do we have to visit?"... like i'm gonna say um.. well 1 is fine! NOT! So of course I said all and he said 2 so I made it 3
I win! ![]() |

I have heard of the lightcraft variable ND filters before but I suppose depending on the lighting you could probably get away with a smaller aperture and a polarizer such as :

oooo cool shot! I may have to use my polarizer if I can't get to making a decision on an ND filter. LOL

Lovely shot! One of these days I will get something that look 1/2 as good as this ![]() On the road of life ... shortcuts are not always a good idea! But they are great in Photoshop

Shucks.. well than you Arca My main point is that perhaps what you need is already in your kit ie. the polarizer. If you really need the filter choose a filter that is good quality glass and not perspex .. we spend a fair bit of money on good optics so why smother it in some el cheapo plastic. Note to MnM: ... DON'T FORGET YOUR TRIPOD (or the base plate for it ... the second trip to the falls above, I hiked in and set up and realised that the base for my tripod was back in the car grrr |

that's funny you say that cause I always keep mine attached to the camera no matter what I'm doing now for that exact reason!
