You forgot Fuji and Kodak. It's OK, I didn't know fuji made cameras up until a few days ago either.

Oh man, is this gonna be a lame version of "MAC vs. PC"?....Any computer is better than no computer, and any camera is better than no camera!
I don't have a Canon or a Nikon. I have an Olympus and a Pentax. The Pentax because I've had a 1964 Honeywell Pentax film camera since before most of you were born, and now I have a K7, which I love, and an Olympus E420 which doesn't exactly suck, either. Saved money compared to Canon & Nikon, too. Not saying anything against them, but a skilled carpenter can get top results with any assortment of tools if he knows what he's doing. So I still expect to see endless arguments on this thread, but please try to keep things in perspective.
PS: I have a dopey little Canon Powershot A540 that I keep in my glove box when I'm just driving around. Got some pretty damn good "gotta pull over & take this shot" pics with it! So as I said above, any camera is better than no camera! ;-)

There are tons of DSLR brands but almost no one is using any other brands then thw ones i told.

And CMYK of a good carpenter can do pretty things with bad tools. but with the right tools it gets even better and faster.

Lodd, I didn't say "Bad tools"...I said different tools. I can take my 1964 Pentax & film and blow away your silly new Nikon. :-p

different tool btw, so you can take photos with, say a... a shoe?

Never mind, I didn't want to let this thread go in this direction, but I contributed to it. My apologies.
