A few of my entries seem to have the colours washed out when they are uploaded to the site. Does anyone know why this is and how to prevent it? The originals on my computer are much more vibrant, is this simply to do with how the browser is rendering colour?
Cheers!
A question of colour

fatmike, on the chopper's side of the house I've noticed this when uploading my work. Not sure why this is, but I over come it by uploading, to the be published later button. Having done this I am able to adjust the image in Photoshop, so that it looks like I intended while online. I wonder if this would be an acceptable method in the photography side though. I assume it would be Chappy as you can do some minor adjustments, contrast, saturation as long as it is to the whole of an image.
I have noticed through comments on some of my entries of being too dark. I re-calibrated and have not heard any more comments of being too dark but I am kinda gun shy now with low light images. Washed colors, I have seen reds take a beating upon upload chop side and photo. Others have stated this too. i hope others would get in on this discussion also. ![]() It's a great life if you don't weaken

Are you uploading your images as Adobe RGB. I always work in Adobe RGB, but convert to sRGB before uploading to the web. Tha will make quite a difference to the colour.

In Photoshop, if you use Save for WEB, to downsize your image, there is an option to convert to sRGB.

Thanks! I think I shoot in sRGB, I'll have to check what settings I have on Photoshop. Typically the shots aren't affected on other sites though (flickr, facebook etc.) so I wasn't sure what was happening.

Sounds like a lot of work Ichappell! But certainly a foolproof solution! I'll have to give it a shot. |

Naw it really isn't that much work once you get used to it. Friskiwi had a valid solution too. Trust your captain .... but keep your seatbelt securely fastened.
