If you need to make sure a PDF opens with Adobe you need to go to the folder options tab which in XP is under the Tools heading of any open folder assuming you have the Standard Tool bar on. You an then go to the file types tab and find the PDF extension in the list and select Adobe as the default program to open a PDF

If you are running Vista or Windows 7 it will be similar
