I'm just starting to really want to get into PS and I only have elements right now (can't afford the CS5) so I was wondering what your favorite filters are, why and where to get them? If you can post a picture of what the filter does too that would help me a lot! :)

So you mean a filter apart from the basic ones that PS offers? None, for me. Though I had a noisefilter once (forgot the name), that mostly worked pretty well. But that's about it, no fancy stuff for me :-)

Think CMYK has a point here, most entries here are made without filters just coffee and a lot of coffee

I completely understand that and realize it but I know ya'll have a lot more experience and knowledge than I do so I thought I could get some ideas of some neat PS filters that do cool things to pics. I like to give a few pics of the people I shoot to them with neat effects like the fractalus (sp) one and such. :)

The Gaussian Blur filter is pretty handy when it comes to making shadows.

Can only think of a couple of things I access the filter button for; Liquify, Gaussian blur, Lens blur, Displace. I personally don't care much for anything else.
