The 50 Most Beautiful Natural Waterfalls in the World

The word “waterfall” is pretty self-explanatory: a mass of flowing water rapidly dropping over a steep cliff. This phenomenon can be natural – which makes it even more spectacular, or created by human hands.

Today’s showcase of 50 photos will focus on the first category: natural waterfalls that are meant to emphasize the beauty of pure nature in many parts of the world. As the water falls and splahses, rainbows are created, which are a delight for the eyes.

  1. beautiful, though would be cool to know countries / where they are.
Also – waterfalls are just as beautiful without photoshop, seems like too many people think that a photo wont be enough without tweaking it until it looks fake. Natural beauty please 🙂

  2. Horseshoe falls is just Niagara from above…. Why the different name? Why not just say Niagara from above 3? Other than that, beautiful photos.

  3. The 17th Picture, labelled “Waterfall Mist” is the Ngardmau Waterfall in The Republic of Palau, a small island nation in the south pacific. Quite a hike to get there but it’s a really refreshing and beautiful end to the journey!

  4. Also, @rebeccazg, there is no photoshop that I can see (maybe some minor color retouching). The images where the water on the waterfall looks very smooth and dreamlike is a simple photography technique that has nothing to do with photoshop. All you do is set a longer exposure and since the water is in constant motion while everything else is stationary it comes out very dreamlike.

  5. Should probably say the 50 Most Beautiful PICTURES of waterfalls, particularly considering that three of these are Seljalandsfoss (Curtrain, Seljalandsfoss, and Behind the Waterfall) in Iceland.

  6. you cant really say 50 most beautiful photos in the world when many of those 50 were of Niagara falls. But they are very pretty 🙂

  7. the reason for the different name of horseshoe falls is there are different parts of the falls, this section is called the horseshoe, i lived here for many yrs theres also goat island in this pic that wasnt mentioned and the boat in the pic is the maid of the mist!

  8. Actually, the horseshoe falls in niagara falls is the small american waterfall next to canada’s niagara falls waterfall. I live there i would know. The small american one i think is posted somewhere, but really the breathtaking large one shown many times above is canadian. Just saying.

  9. I have a problem with that NY Niagara Falls. The title of this post is the 50 Most Beautiful NATURAL waterfalls. NY’s falls are man made. Hence all the crap at the bottom of the falls.

  10. Where do you people get your information? Horseshoe Falls is the larger, more popularly beautiful part of Niagara Falls, most of which is on the Canadian side. The American Falls is straighter, smaller, separate part of the Niagara Falls and entirely in the U.S.
And I am pretty sure that no part of Niagara Falls is man made. They considered doing something to the falls to try to prevent the rockfalls that cause the rock debris but decided to let the falls remain natural.

  11. Niagara Fall is entirely natural, and has long been known by native peoples. It was first seen by European explorer Father Louis Hennepin in 1678. The falls has migrated upstream considerably over its 12,000 year history.

  12. wow ..such very nice and beautiful…waterfall…my drem is live in nachural …place… ifeel like near to gog.. such wonderful….i have no words….

  13. I THINK THERE REAL NICE ! I KNOW FOR A FACT I CAN’T TAKE PICTURES THAT GOOD . YOU ETHER HAVE THE GIFT OR YOU JUST TALK ABOUT HOW GOOD YOU ARE ! THIS LADY DOESN’T HAVE TO SAY A WORD. TAKE A REAL CLOSE LOOK AT THE SHOT’S AND LIGHTING. THAT’S ALL I NEED TO SAY, AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING THOSE PHOTO’S!

  14. I’m more convinced with these pictures than ever before that the most beautifull waterfalls are many out there**

  15. I just want to say I think your whole site is beautiful. I can’t believe all these critical comments. If they think they can do a better job, why haven’t they. Each photo is so refreshing and your photography is fabulous. Does that guy who complained that you didn’t include Angel Falls think you can photograph every single waterfall in the world? People can be so needlessly critical. Keep up the beautiful work, and keep sharing with us, please.

  16. I’m sri lankan. nice pictures i never see in my life These waterfalls are very excellent and very very beautiful. Come and see sri lankan waterfalls
