The Top 100 Photography of January 2011
Another month of thrilling photography contests has ended! We’ve collected the 100 highest scoring entries from the Pxleyes photography contests that were active during the month January 2011… This list is ranked by the final scores of the entries.

In this contest, all you’ve got to do is to do some folds in a piece of paper, to make it look like a paper plane, and place it in an interesting background to photograph it. They are expensive and most of use can’t effort them but there’s ways to fake this effect without using Photoshop. In this contest you’re going to have to be creative, do some DIY and build your own ring light simulation. There’s some helpfull tutorials online like these and these and there are more.
You’ll be able to make a fake ring light for a about USD $5.00 and you can always use it later on, hows that for a deal? Goal in this contest is to photograph something (like an eye) which reflects the homemade light of the ring light. One more catch and this is important: you’ll have to post a photo of the device you made as a ring light in the SBS. Using a premade and real ring light is considered to be off theme

In this I want to see something that resembles recycling. Either Planting trees, putting stuff in those blue bins (for those that dont have those it’s bins that recycle companies pick up like trash), cleaning up the beach,roads (inmates count), rivers, etc. Anything that shows that the earth will benefit from us using or doing.

Angles are found everywhere. From architectural structures to baked pastries, enter your most artistic take on angles. The only stipulation is they must be less than a 90 degrees angle (also known as the Right Angle).
This means that an exact 90 degrees angle is off theme, but 89 degrees is not. Anything goes, as long as the subject that portrays the angle or angles are the main focus. Have fun and good luck!

March 18th 2011 is Red Nose day again. For those who do not know this: it’s a way to raise money for those less fortunate in Africa (and local charities) in a funny way. Whatever you do it involves a red clowns nose. This idea started in the UK (1988) and spread out to other countries as well. The fund raising part is hard to realize at PXL but we can do something to support and spread the idea behind it.
Your goal in this contest is to make portraits of people or animals wearing a red clowns nose. As an exception selective coloring (just showing the red of the nose) is allowed but is not required. More info on Red Nose day 2011.

Photograph a situation in which a normal object or objects looks huge compared to the surroundings. The item(s) you photograph may not already be over-sized. The situation itself must look natural and the surrounding must interact with the over-sized looking object(s).
Example: make a person stand on a pile of books by photographing the books closeby and the person far away so it looks that the person is small and standing on top of the books.

2. Throwing Planes
Who has never made those easy origami paper planes ? In this contest, all you’ve got to do is to do some folds in a piece of paper, to make it look like a paper plane, and place it in an interesting background to photograph it. Other objects are allowed but the paper airplane (a single one) should be in focus. Other origami art is not allowed. GL !
