Exclusive Interview with Cranio + 40 of His Best Graffiti Street Art Photos

Cranio is a very talented artist we recently discovered. He approaches art in a manner that is hard to frame, not traditional but not modern either. While he does paint, his materials and canvas are not the ones that any painter uses. Street art is his area of expertise, graffiti, to be more precise and he agreed to share some of his secrets and art passions with us, in an exclusive interview.

Q: Hello and welcome to the PXLeyes community. Please tell us a few things about who Cranio is. A: My name is Fabio, a.k.a. Cranio (www.flickr.com/cranioartes), and I am from São Paulo, Brazil. I’m 28 and I do graffiti since 1998. That’s how I developed my artistic skills.

Q: Street art is an interesting passion, please tell us a few things about that. A: Street art is fascinating, especially the graffiti part, which is the strongest point of my work, it’s what I most like to do, I always drew on paper though, even canvas and panels. Now I took a step forward and I’m even making some sculptures.

Q: Do you have other passions related to art? A: I also love to skate, I like film, music and the art of circus. Last but not least, indigenous art.

Q: Do you prefer traditional or moder art? Why? A: I like art in general, modern or traditional, all are part of the story.

Q: Do you plan on making an exhibition of your paintings? A: I have had some exhibitions here in Brazil before, and the next one will be in October.

Q: Street artists are usually left in the dark, they rarely get popular, even if some are very talented. Do you sign or promote your work in any way? A: Paint on the street is the biggest promotion of my work. The street is my window to the world.

Q: How do you pick your locations? Do you need special walls for the grafitti or just any wall will do? A: The location is random, but the texture and the conditions of the place much influence.

Q: What kind of materials do you use? A: I mostly use sprays, latex paint, brushes and paint rollers.

Q: What advice would you give for the people out there just starting out in the fantastic world of graffiti and art in general? A: Study and practice a lot. The art is free and the world is ours.

Thanks Fabio! Below is our selection of your 40 most impressive art:
