49. Always On Duty

Contest goal:
Think of a SINGLE word that you could pronounce by combining two or more items into a picture. Your title should be a CLUE, but not say the answer. You cannot use pictures of letters to spell out your words, Try not to put the actual word in the title, so voters should have try to at least guess before looking for the answer in the details box. Judging should be based on creativity and fun factor. Example 1: a ball next to a basket (basketball),

43. Colosseo

Contest goal:
We’ve got a lot of talented photographers here. But, are they really talented, or do they get their “talent” from the expensive and sophisticated cameras they have? They have to prove to us that they really have talent in this contest. Your goal is to take the worst camera that you have (mobile phone cameras would be very appreciated) and show your talent! You may photograph anything you want, but mention in the description box what camera you used and its number of megapixels. Good luck!

Contest goal:
‘Focus’ is one of the most important elements of photography. An image focused well is appreciated by everyone. The originality should be the key factor for this idea.

Contest goal:
When we’re inside, most of us don’t bother to look up. But if we did, we might see some amazing things covering our heads. There might be a glass ceiling, a boat’s ceiling or other unexpected forms. Your job in this contest is simple. Find an unusual ceiling and take a shot of it. You can shoot any ceiling other than brick. Good luck! For reference, this might help clarify the guidelines here: A ceiling is an overhead interior surface that bounds (“ceils”) the upper limit of a room. Contest goal:
One of the main ways people relax is to sit with a nice cup of coffee. And when we relax, we often let our minds wander. 19. The Hang-mans Knot

Contest goal:
“Triskaidekaphobia” is defined as the “Fear” of the number “13.” Many buildings avoid the thirteenth floor, many airports do not have a 13th flight or gate, and many cities do not have a 13 Avenue or street. However, the Last Supper had 13 diners with Jesus and the 12 disciples, there are traditionally 13 witches in a coven and so on. For the purposes of this contest we will embrace and clearly define this number. Take a photograph that has a direct connection to the number 13. Any subject matter is appropriate as long as it adds up to, or defines, the number of 13.

12. Warped And Wet

Contest goal:
“Jowling,” (sometimes known as “slap n’ flap”) is a little hard to capture well, but always fun to view. How do you do it? Get your subject to relax their facial muscles completely (to the point that they have no facial expression). Then, while staying relaxed, have them open their eyes and mouth (and try to keep them open) and shake their head from side to side as fast as they can. Start snapping (use a flash and fast shutter speed to freeze the ‘action’)! Here is a link to an example.

5. Defying gravity….?

Contest goal:
Anyone can spot the black sheep in the flock of white ones. We’ve taken this scene and applied it in many different ways where humans are involved. But we label the one who ‘sticks out’ as the black sheep. Take a photo of your interpretation of the saying, “the black sheep of the family.” It can either be the oddball of the bunch, or the one with undesirable characteristics (physical or personality.) To help you out, here is a link for the phrase Animals/Humans are allowed.
