Apparently some people may not be familiar with the game of Candy Land, which i have chosen for my image. My main focal point are the two game pieces in the center fore ground. Not to mention the lollipop forest looming in the distance and the iconic rainbow road the game pieces move upon.

**Per Mods Request**
The clouds were created using brushes. I am not sure of the exact brush pack as i have been collecting and compiling all of my cloud brushes into one large set, also about 12 different cloud bushes were used to create the desired effect.

Your main problem is the source for the fly is the photo with shallow DOF but the frog's one is not. Imagine that if you place anything behind the fly, it will become blurred (so your image is wrong in term of DOF, Depth of Field). You can fix that by blurring all the area behind the fly or re-create the blurring part of the fly (mush tougher). However, the idea is very good Reply »

Langstrum is right about the source and DOF, however IMO I would perceive the blur of the fly (legs and wings) to be motion blur. The fly would be the only thing moving rapidly at that point, so although closer would be the most blurred.....Great entry Reply »

thanks for the comments!!! ;] Geexman is correct that the legs and wings of the fly are from motion blur, as you can see in the source for the image... I do understand what you are saying about the DOF but i think that i have created the depth needed with the small amount of blur i have added to the frog and tongue already... they would be relatively close as a frog's tongue would be no more than a few inches in length. I like this one! It looks like the fly was smashed against a piece of glass. I especially like the spit/guts spraying... Nice idea, and nice job on it. Maaaaybe you could add a small shadow (burn) between the two tongue pieces, to create a shadow above the top one. Just a thought. Great work and good luck! Reply »

nice image ... imo ithink DOF is OK because if the eye OR lens is focused on the frog, then what is behind AND in front will be out of focus, in re-creating a photo-realistic image - well done ...it's all down to ISO, shutter speed, etc. Reply »

That is really cool, however, I wish the baby were in the same focus as the rest of the picture. Everything has a nice Gaussian blur to it and that baby is just crystal clear. Evening out the tones and sharpness of the three main items would really add to the painterly quality of it. Nice job overall though for sure! Reply »

thanks elinoree! for the bg part i was attempting to create a bit of depth by having distant objects less in focus... and the baby is in focus becase it is the main object, as is the dad, jsut the dad is swaying slightly in the air which is why he is less in focus... guess if i have to explain it i didn't do a good enough job showing it ;] Thanks for your thoughtful input! The idea is good, I really like it, but execution needs some improvements. Looks like you're hiding some mistakes on the layer of the father by blurring. You can say it because of the DOF, it's alright, but I can't imagine the father is not in the same plane with the child (because the his shadow is as sharp as the shadow of his kid). Moreover, the right hand of the father needs to be recovered, looks like he loses fingers. Just my opinion, don't take it offensive. Good luck, author Reply »
