Chrysanthemutt - created by GolemAura
source and fish picture (2 years and 228 days ago)
excellent suggestion Stowsk, and I tried several back grounds, but I decided to just let the piece be, I started to build a body, but I knew it would take too long to make it work, so I stopped once the head was done..(shading a Chrysanthemum TAKES FOR EVER) Thanks for all the kind comments Reply »

@JSK... I just wanted the source to show very clearly,, I could have easily blurred and smudged all the masking but then it would have looked like fur, and I wanted the source to be seen.. as to blue and orange.. the last time I checked the rules of traditional complimentary color, (Blue to Orange, Red to Green, Yellow to Purple) (since the dominant color in my piece was Blue, I went with orange overtones and an orange mouth... I added purple to compliment the Yellow of the original image (I'm a big Cezanne Fan), and I already explained the reason for the background...and I'm very happy you think the head is floating..it was one of my main goals
But to alter it now wouldn't be fair to all the nice members who already voted
I'm terribly sorry this piece is such a let down for you.. I'll try to do better next time Reply »

Just my opinion. You can take my critics on board or leave it as it is. Im happy either way. just trying to help. btw i ment that blue and orange were strange choices for a dog, not the way they compliment eachother. Just want to point out that i think the contruction of the dog is well done but its not as precise as i would have preffered. Then again my opinion so dont worry too much. Anyways good luck

@CMYK... darling, I could draw a perfect replica of the Mona Lisa in blood and crayon and you'd tell me I didn't give her any eyebrows and I obviously used blood to create it LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
just funning

I walked all over my neighborhood to find a swamp area that had about the same colors as the source in order to merge them together... some lady got eaten by a gator last year jogging so all the gators were cleaned out of the area... darn it (2 years and 266 days ago)

Very good work.... having to get your own pic to match.... awesome job! Reply »
(2 years and 266 days ago)
congrats on 3rd place.... i still disagree that this was blended well, but remember this: work that is done well goes un noticed. if this was blended well, you wouldnt be able to see that it was blended at all. i can clearly see the line where this was blended, not to mention the color isnt matching. its good work, but it could use some improving... HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!!!! (2 years and 223 days ago)
There are many defects and differences in resolution here. Pixelated objects are next to higher resolution objects...author, maybe you should think more about integrating your images. Maybe also think about how to make an image that actually shows the source pic... Reply »

Argus Panoptes - created by GolemAura
In Greek mythology, Argus Panoptes (Ἄργος Πανόπτης) or Argos, guardian of the heifer-nymph Io and son of Arestor, was a primordial giant whose epithet "Panoptes", "all-seeing", led to his being described with multiple, often a hundred, eyes.
According to Ovid, to commemorate her faithful watchman, Hera had the hundred eyes of Argus preserved forever, in a peacock's tail.

do you think, that these all had to be the same eye? i started wonder, how it would be with many different eyes (of cat's, owl's, whale's, pig's...), hehee:P.. and also you could have created the eyeballs
left foot seems a bit unfinished, but the idea is wonderful! Reply »

MARISSA?!?!?!?! omg.. ARE YOU INSANE?!?!?!.. omg.. More EYEBALLS.. do you know hard it is to look at just one...this piece gave me the heebie jeebies through the whole process.. look how grossed out the other members are.. poor Olivia blew chunks.. LOL.. more eyeballs.. sheesh... (great suggestion though, that would be awesome)though I don't think I have time to run out and collect pictures of all those different eyeballs.. (I don't use sources other then the ones supplied by the contest).. and Waz gave me a great Idea as well.. I'm not at my main computer so I can't work on it right now.. Reply »

Creepy, but in a good way. Uniformity of eyes works for me as that's what I'm used to, albeit in such a quantity. I have to agree that he does not look like a giant. I would intensify the shadow on his butt crack and soften the shadow under his left clavicle while increasing that for his left armpit (so it doesn't look like his left arm is growing out of his neck). A slightly stronger shadow along the back edge of his right arm wouldn't hurt, either. Reply »

Now this one I like! Good use of source, you didn't go overboard with warping, stretching and discoloring. If you can move the right part of the reflection down, looks like the horse is staggering a bit which would mean the reflection would be more down. Reply »
