It was sitting on my bed when I was going to bed, so I put him in a jar (with breathing holes), and saved him for the next day. Reply »

My vote would have been higher if he had more wrinkles. Excellent portrait, but not so much on theme. Reply »

You need to explain in the SBS how you made this shot. Reply »

Looks great to me. Saw the SBS too. Not that I know much about photography -very little, if anything at all- but IMHO, this image is a bright example of what makes a good photographer Reply »

What is it? - created by friiskiwi

Thanks, it is indeed a pill bug, roly poly or wood louse, but not I believe a potato bug.
It was on a piece of glass over some coloured matter, on it's back trying to right itself. I flipped the image and really liked the way it looks like it's swimming. Reply »

Potato bugs are also known as Jerusalem Crickets...just found that out, thought I'd pass it on. Reply »

Great job! I haven't tried this yet but I imagine it's not easy, I like the delicate subject and the lighting. Reply »

Thanks, this was my second attempt. I stitched them together with Photoshops Photo merge program, but initially didn't blend them. I find that works better. I then looked at each image and in some cases erased part of the image, where the overlapping image was sharper, etc. Reply »
