Thanks guys
.
I have adjusted the shadow a bit - (removed lower light source and changed from buffered shadows to ray shadows). I hope they look better now.
I set the specularity and its hardness really high because the ladybeetles in my reference photos are actually really shiny when the sun is on them.
I have just added some subsurface scattering to the shell. Reply »
You have an incredible sense of color which help you enorm. I have to work twice or more for a mediocre result. How much do you want to share this secret with me ?
Reflections are still to strong IMO. Your program ( you still work in Bryce ? ) have for sure settings for specular light or highlight, play with.
Your work is too good to not be perfect. Reply »
I gave up on Bryce ages ago, currently using Blender.
Ok, I've decreased the specular a bit. I also just added a bit of reflection in the eye using HDRi image (top middle image of source). Reply »
Great work author...I like bug very much, great details and perfect for,.Just one nit pick, adjust shadow just a bit. With this lighting shadow is to much sharp and dark, lover the opacity of shadow and blur the edges just a bit...Any how, high marks from me...Good luck Reply »
looks like a piece of candy.. Like you could pop it in to your mouth and chow down.. wonderful Reply »

I loved building meccano as a kid, so I pulled out the introductory leaflet from my set and built the second simplest model. (3 years and 115 days ago)

I have reduced the size of the pick axe and lamps to 80%. Reply »
This is absolutely fantastic, really great. Here is the smallest of nit picks......it looks a bit too clean to be in a mine shaft.

Thanks Richie,
I have added an additional soil texture to the ground, and also added a particle system for some dust. Reply »

Ok. So this is my first ever 3D thing ever. I had to simplify the shapes a bit because I made the whole thing in Bryce 5.5. Still, I had fun and might try some more contests later.
All the textures and objects used came with Bryce.
I used this blueprint: http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/cars/bentley/24163/view/bentley_4_5_litre_1929/ (3 years and 192 days ago)
Bryce is fantastic software, only the snobs can afford the 3dmax and mental price ray lol, good image keep at it you will get better and better. Reply »
Quote from Missy : ”Damn good”. I read twice your excellent SBS and I still cant believe to my eyes that you've made this beautiful car with the primitives modelling tools of Bryce. I'll never try that, it's like to work only with my left hand. Incredible good, congrats.

Thanks for your encouraging comments guys.
This is my first real attempt at organic modeling and I'm glad you all like the hair as it gave me quite a lot of trouble to comb. I think the model was easier than adding the hair!
This horse was modeled on an Arabian, which typically have wide foreheads and dishy faces, although I probably exaggerated this a bit. (I think the angle of my front on reference photograph wasn't quite straight). Reply »
